What is SneakPeek® Clinical?
SneakPeek Clinical is an early gender DNA detection test offered to women starting at 6 weeks into pregnancy.
The genetic test gives you the first step to connect with your baby before you are able to see the exciting clear images from your ultrasound scans. The full service includes an on-site, sterile, SneakPeek Snap blood sample draw in the comfort of the ultrasound studio. A tiny microneedle is used, and virtually no pain will be experienced. Then our office returns the sample to SneakPeek Labs for processing. The laboratories offer the fastest turnaround times in the industry, with a choice of receiving your result the same day the sample reaches the SneakPeek Lab.
How does SneakPeek® Clinical work?
SneakPeek utilizes the natural process of shared fetal DNA circulating inside the mother’s bloodstream. The PCR technology has the ability to detect the presence or absence of male Y chromosome in the blood sample provided starting at 6 weeks into pregnancy. If it is detected, then the baby’s gender is male and if it is not detected then the baby’s gender is female. This is why a sterile environment and proper collection is crucial for accurate results.
How accurate is SneakPeek® Clinical?
A multicenter-blinded study was conducted at four ultrasound clinics with maternal blood samples collected from pregnant women between 6 and 35 weeks of gestation. Circulating cell-free DNA was isolated from a micro-volume of maternal plasma and real-time quantitative PCR was performed to detect fetal DNA using a multi-copy sequence on the Y chromosome. An autosomal control gene was used to measure total cell-free DNA (maternal and fetal cfDNA). Sixty maternal plasma samples were tested twice, on different days, to assess the precision of SneakPeek.
Cell-free DNA was detected in all maternal blood samples. Y-chromosome DNA was detected in all samples from women carrying a male fetus. SneakPeek correctly identified fetal sex in all samples. Assay precision data showed minimal variation and high reproducibility of results. Fetal sex for all samples was unknown prior to genetic testing and was confirmed via sonographic evaluation at the conclusion of the study. SneakPeek accuracy, sensitivity and specificity were each 100% for fetal sex identification. This blinded study showed that SneakPeek Early Gender Test is highly accurate for fetal sex determination in early pregnancy.

FAQ about SneakPeek Clinical
How does SneakPeek work?
While every person has her own DNA in her bloodstream, a pregnant woman’s bloodstream also contains DNA from her unborn child. SneakPeek looks for male chromosomes in a small sample of your blood. If male chromosomes are found, that means baby is a boy. If none are found, baby is a girl. SneakPeek is 99.9% accurate at 6 weeks into pregnancy.
What is the SneakPeek process?
At SneakPeek Labs, a test process called non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is used to analyze cell-free fetal DNA. Starting with a small sample of your blood, plasma is separated from whole blood by centrifuge, and extracted cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) is analyzed for Y chromosomes, which are found only in males. The SneakPeek test is sensitive enough to find even a single Y chromosome, giving you confidence in your results. I’ve previously had a boy.
Will that skew my results? Clinical studies have shown that fetal DNA clears from mom’s blood stream between a few hours to 2 days after birth.
I’m having twins. Can SneakPeek determine fetal sex for each one?
In the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls. For fraternal twins (or more!), finding male DNA will confirm at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl.
Do hormone disorders such as PCOS affect my results?
SneakPeek is a DNA-based test, so hormones do not impact results.
Do blood thinners affect my results?
SneakPeek looks only for the presence of Y chromosomes and is extremely sensitive and accurate. No blood thinners or other drugs are known to impact SneakPeek gender results.
Is this test safe?
SneakPeek Clinical is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), and it’s safe for both momand baby.
How quickly and how will I get my results?
Your blood sample is shipped to SneakPeek Labs in San Diego, CA via FedEx Priority Overnight shipping.
You will receive a “Sample Arrived” email between 3-7PM Eastern Standard Time the day your sample has arrived at SneakPeek Labs. The email is from sneakpeekresults@sneakpeektest.com.

Are results guaranteed? SneakPeek Clinical is the most accurate early gender test on the market. If your test result does not match the gender of your newborn, you’ll receive a full refund.
How is my privacy protected?
We know your DNA information is personal. To protect your privacy:
1. SneakPeek tests only for baby’s gender. No data is gathered about disease states or other health-relatedinformation.
2. After the test is run, your DNA sample is disposed of by a professional chemical management company incompliance with federal standards.
3. SneakPeek never shares your results with anyone other than the email address you provide.
